Located in the Aude valley, the Saint-Georges gorges are made up of sumptuous limestone cliffs over 100 meters high. The rafting descent begins upstream from Axat and for 7 km, it crosses varied landscapes, rich in endemic fauna and flora.
This discovery outing is perfectly suited for children, beginners and people looking for a fun and accessible outdoor activity.
It is made up of alternating small, turbulent rapids and calmer passages, including the crossing of the pretty village of Axat, at the end of the course.

The magnificent Pierre-Lys gorges offer breathtaking canyons. Its vertiginous cliffs constitute an ideal wild setting for a sports outing in the heart of nature.
This time, the activity begins downstream from Axat, on the most challenging section of the river. Aimed at amateur or experienced athletes, this 7km rafting descent consists of a series of large rapids, each increasing in difficulty.
The first kilometers are rather calm, with the crossing of the pretty village of Saint-Martin-Lys. Then, on the second part, beautiful rapids of classes II, III and IV follow one another.

In a splendid wild setting, embark on a sporty rafting descent of increasing difficulty. First of all, the gorges of Saint-Georges and the crossing of Axat and Saint-Martin-Lys. Then, the torrent rushes into the Pierre-Lys gorges, with turbulent rapids rich in sensations.
This 2.5-hour whitewater descent is ideal for athletes in good physical condition, looking for an adrenaline rush!

Where to go rafting in the Pyrénées-Orientales?
There are no rafting spots in the Pyrénées-Orientales . The rivers and streams are unsuitable, either because they are not wide enough or have too low a flow. But the good news is that there are superb rafting trips in the Aude (11) , right on the border with the Pyrénées-Orientales.
The Aude is a river that rises in the Pyrenees mountain range, at Lake Aude, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. Over the centuries, it has carved beautiful mineral gorges into the limestone, rising to over 300 meters. It also gave its name to the Aude department (11). Around Axat , at the foot of the Pyrenees, are some of the best spots for rafting , just a few kilometers from the Pyrénées-Orientales.

Alone, as a couple, or in a group, let yourself be tempted by a refreshing water sport accessible to all. If you are a group of eight people, you can book your own raft and personal guide. If you are less numerous, no problem! You will share your boat with another small group.

What equipment is needed for rafting?
All rafting equipment is provided to you:
- the raft (inflatable boat);
- paddles;
- the neoprene suit;
- life jacket ;
- helmet.
All personal protective equipment (PPE) is CE approved , and checked and verified daily to guarantee the highest level of safety.
What do you need to plan for a rafting trip?
The only things you need to bring for your rafting trip are:
- a swimsuit ;
- a towel ;
- a pair of sports shoes;
- a bottle of water and a small snack: you will appreciate them when you return from your rafting trip.
